As I soaked up the island view, I thought about how special the entire voyage felt — from the destinations to the ship itself. But on a cruise ship with no kids, I never expected to find a playground for adults. After that first cruise, I wanted to experience an upscale version of the vacation style. "We loved the ship and everything about it. We tried all the restaurants and it is difficult to select one as a favorite - as all had exciting menus and sooooo good food - freshly made of high-quality ingredients." One word of caution is that many of the excursions are extremely large and crowded. One passenger complained of having 40 people on his sailing excursion, while a kayaking trip in Antigua had more than 60 guests. We wished we had known how many people were booked on each excursion before selecting, as we would have chosen smaller Experiences. We tried a similar excursion in Barbados but were disappointed when the catamaran took us in view of the ship, deposited us on a crowded beach, and then sailed us back after a quick swim, claiming the waves were too rough. We later discovered others who took the same excursion and sailed further afield through the same company.
I also found solo musicians and DJs in other places like restaurant entryways, wide hallways, and near the ice cream parlor. Based on what I saw in Virgin Voyages' advertising, I knew to expect dance parties and some sort of main stage attraction. Change the name on your voyage up to 48 hours before you head out if you can’t make it, or want to change whoever is sailing with you.
